Residents asked about sexual health service plans for Derbyshire

Residents are being invited to have their say about our plans to develop sexual health services in a consultation starting tomorrow (Friday 11 April).

We carried out the first stage of a review in January and used comments from the feedback to draw up plans to develop the service.

Now we want to know if residents feel the proposals meet their needs and if the right issues are being prioritised.

Our Cabinet Member for Health and Communities Councillor Dave Allen said:

"We want to thank the many people who took part in the first stage of our review in January as their comments have helped us draw up proposals to develop the sexual health services we currently offer.

"We’re now keen to hear from residents again to make sure those proposals are what Derbyshire people need and we’ll use the comments to help us plan future provision.

"Derbyshire overall has a good level of sexual health and we’d like to hear different views from as many people as possible to help us provide the right services to improve these results further."

During the first stage of the consultation residents were asked about contraception services, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, sexual health promotion and HIV prevention.

The second stage will focus on how our plans for future service provision will meet local people’s sexual health needs, how easy services are to access − and an opportunity for people to suggest any improvements.

Residents do not need to have used sexual health services to take part in this consultation. They

can see a summary of the feedback so far, find out more and take part at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/sexualhealth (opens in a new window)

Postal copies can be requested by emailing elaine.varley@derbyshire.gov.uk or calling 01629 533836.

The consultation will run between Friday 11 April and Friday 9 May.

Residents can get more information about Derbyshire Sexual Health Services and clinics by calling 01246 235792 in confidence or visiting www.derbyshiresexualhealth.nhs.uk (opens in a new window)
