Two youths injured in A57 road crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision on the A57 Snake Pass in north Derbyshire.

At about 10.40am today (Wednesday 16th April 2014) a serious road traffic collision occurred on the A57 Snake Pass, near to Hagg Farm, between Glossop and Bamford.

A blue Ford Fiesta, which was travelling towards Ladybower, left the offside of the road and collided heavily with a mature pine tree down an embankment. The driver and front seat passenger were uninjured but two 17-year -old youths, who were rear seat passengers, suffered serious injuries. They were taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

The road was closed until 4.50pm while an investigation into the cause of the collision continued and the vehicle was recovered.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicle beforehand is asked to contact the police on 101.
