Police invite families to enjoy a picnic in the park in the Amber Valley
Police in the Amber Valley are inviting families to enjoy a picnic in the park over the summer.
A number of events are being organised by officers on the local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams during the holiday period to help keep kids entertained and to give both them and adults the chance to speak to officers on an informal basis.
Games will be available for youngsters, and refreshments and crime prevention advice will also be on offer for local residents.
PC Sarah Allcock of the Heanor and Loscoe Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We first came up with the idea last summer, and had a number of successful events which we hope to repeat this year.
“The aim is to offer something different to a normal police surgery, and to appeal to families in the area during the school holidays. People are welcome to bring a picnic and spend a few hours in the park with us over the summer.”
The events will take place, weather permitting, between 12pm and 2pm on:
Monday, August 4: Heanor Memorial Park
Monday, August 11: Shipley Country Park
Monday, August 18: Charles Hill Sports Complex, Flamstead Avenue, Loscoe
For more information contact the Heanor and Loscoe Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101, or email ripley.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.
