New Water Feature Makes a Splash at Crossley Park
Amber Valley Borough Council’s latest park improvement, the ‘splash pad’ in Ripley’s Crossley Park, has been officially opened by its Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor John and Angela Walker.
The exciting new play feature, which cost £150,000, has replaced the old but much loved paddling pool. It is part of the ongoing improvements, which have ensured that Crossley Park has retained its status as one of the best in the country for more than five years under the Green Flag Award Scheme.
Amber Valley Borough Mayor Councillor John Walker said: “It’s a wonderful feature, and much more accessible than the paddling pool. Children of all ages are having a great time, some are in swim wear, but others are in full water proof gear, whichever, it’s obviously still great fun.”
The splash pad, which is free to use, has generated a lot of interest with it being such a different type of play feature. Children will be pleased to know that it will be working between 10.00am and 7.00pm each day until mid-September or until the weather gets too cold.
