Tractors at Windmill
On a nice warm Sunday, with a gentle breeze blowing and comfortably turning the sails, twenty vintage tractors arrived at Heage windmill, some travelling by their own ‘steam’ and others on the back of lorries and trucks. John Alsop, a good supporter of the windmill, did a great job assembling a goodly collection of the vintage old work horses, so carefully restored by their loving owners. They were greatly appreciated by a large number of visitors, some of whom had come especially to see them, and others who were just (initially) just visiting the windmill.
An added attraction was a special display of old devices and traps used in the past to control vermin on farms etc, especially moles. This was of great interest to the Windmill Trust because part of the mill grounds is plagued by moles – and the stall holder has promised to come and move them on for us.........................
The windmill will be open during 2014 (11-00am to 4-0pm) every weekend from April until the end of October, as well as all bank holidays.
