First Pre-Season Games Look Promising
Positive signs for Men and Ladies as Valley pre-season gets into full swing
The pre-season games for Amber Valley provided a lot of promise and things continue to look great for the season ahead.
With Baildon RUFC the visitors on Saturday 22nd August 2015 the Valley men got a good first performance under their belts with a 14-14 draw against strong opposition. A number of new players made their debut throughout the game providing a good account of the entire squad, and the hard work put in shone through with some great defensive work and good running lines. Man of the Match, sponsored by Bob Toth Building Services, was awarded to Marcus Axelson for an excellent running performance at Centre.
The Ladies team, travelling away to Mellish RUFC, also continued their development with some encouraging play and great team ethics. Despite losing 48-0 to an experienced team the level of performance demonstrated by the Valley ladies highlights how far they have developed, and the coming season will surely be a great learning curve for the team as they continue to move forward.
The focus now turns to the games on Saturday 29th August for both the Ladies and Men to continue their preparation.
