David Nieper staff smash the 100 box target and fill 160 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child
The knitting machines at David Nieper, fashion house in Alfreton have been busy this month making scarves to help fill the 160 shoe boxes being donated for the Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child appeal.
The Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief and development organization. Every year they run an appeal to help brighten Christmas for the children most in need around the world, by delivering shoe boxes full of toys and other gifts.
Staff at David Nieper had set an original target to collect 100 shoe boxes full of goodies; however the final count was a massive 160! The company provided the boxes, postage and knitted a scarf to go into every box for children who may be feeling the cold this year.
The boxes were then filled by staff with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, wrapped sweets and personalised cards and letters with seasonal messages.
Managing Director, Christopher Nieper commented:
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the staff who have smashed their original target! Well done to everyone that took part and especially the organisers. We are involved in many charity and fundraising activities but the shoe box appeal is very special. There are so many disadvantaged children around the world in real poverty, we hope in some small way this can help make a difference.”
The show boxes are distributed by volunteers to children most in need all around the world in Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and closer to home.
