Woman hospitalised after handbag robbery in Alfreton

Police are appealing for information after a 68-year-old woman was robbed as she walked home from Tesco in Alfreton.

The lady was in Grange Street at about 6pm on Friday, February 5 when she was approached by a man who demanded she hand over her handbag.

When she refused, the attacker punched her to the head several times before stealing the bag. The victim is currently receiving treatment at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The offender was white, medium to stocky build, with short dark hair. He was wearing dark trousers or jeans, and a dark jacket. He ran off with the handbag, which is patent black leather.

Detectives investigating the offence are appealing for witnesses to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 538 of February 5.

You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
