Witness appeal following attempted robbery at bus stop
Police are appealing for witnesses after a would-be robber tried to steal the phone of a man who was waiting for a bus.
The incident happened in Main Road, Stretton, Alfreton, at about 4.10pm on Thursday, June 2.
The 26-year-old victim was waiting for the bus when he was approached by a man on a mountain bike.
The robber threated him and tried to take his mobile phone. The victim refused to hand it over and was then punched, but he defended himself and the robber rode off empty-handed towards Clay Cross.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the attempted robbery take place to get in touch.
The offender was white, in his early 20s, slim build, about 5ft 6ins, with bright ginger hair. He was clean shaven at the time and had a crack across a front tooth, part of which was missing.
He wore a black hoodie, grey Nike jogging bottoms, and was riding a red and black Trek mountain bike.
Anyone who recognises that description or who may have information that could help should call PC Leanne Francis on 101, quoting crime reference 24045/16.
