New bus service for villages around Alfreton
People living in some villages around Alfreton will find it easier to travel to the town due to a new Derbyshire County Council bus service.
The Higham/Hallfieldgate Connect bus has been designed to be flexible to meet the needs of passengers. Serving Higham, Hallfieldgate, Shirland, and the immediate surrounding areas it can be pre-booked to provide door-to-door transport to Alfreton bus station and divert up to 500 metres from its usual route, on request. The bus, which is run by Community Transport for Town and County (CT4TC) on behalf of the county council, makes three round trips a day, Monday to Saturday. There is no Sunday service.
Councillor Simon Spencer, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport said: “This is a flexible service to help make it easier for people to make the journeys they need to make.”
To travel, passengers need to book at least one hour in advance in advance by calling 01773 746652 between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Single fares are a flat rate of £2 for adults and £1 for a child. Gold Cards and b_line cards are valid on this service.
