Wanted! Volunteers for Derby Book Festival
Derby Book Festival is inviting volunteers to sign up to support the first Festival, which will be held in the city from 31 May to 7 June 2015. Anyone interested can now register online for a range of volunteer roles. In the run up to the Festival and during the Festival Week the organisers will need the support of a team of committed and enthusiastic volunteers to help deliver the Festival. They would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in working at the Festival.
In the coming weeks people will be needed to help distribute marketing material (Distribution Volunteers) around the city and outlying villages and during the Festival Week there will be a range of opportunities for volunteering (Festival Volunteers). These will include Event Volunteers, Outdoor Events Volunteers, Children’s Events Volunteers, Bookstall Volunteers, Event Runners and volunteer drivers. The Festival Organisers are delighted that Déda, one of the Festival’s key partners, is supporting the recruitment and training of volunteers. Once registered, volunteers will be invited to attend one of two Festival Briefings at Déda on Sunday 12 April at 2.30-4.00pm and on Monday 13 April at 7.00-8.30pm. No previous experience is needed but volunteers will need to be over 16.
Sian Hoyle, one of the Festival Organisers said: “We are a very small team of volunteers at the moment. There is a lot to do to organise all the events we have planned and to make the Festival the success we want it to be – and which Derby deserves! Anyone who is interested in volunteering should visit our website: www.derbybookfestival.co.uk and register there.”
